6 killed, 30 injured, as Maoists derail Train in Jharkhand

Ranchi: The Naxals blew up a railway track in Jharkhand, killing at least 6 people and injuring nearly 30. The incident occurred late last night between Manoharpur and Pasaita station in Chaibasa district. At least eight bogies of the Tata Nagar-Bilaspur passenger train, were derailed, as the Maoists triggered the blast.
This is the first time the Naxals have derailed a train by landmine blast. Their desperation goes against their so-called “principles” that they don’t cause harm to common people. Since the incident occurred near Chakradharpur on Jharkhand-Odisha border, the injured have been shifted to the Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela.

Rescue and relief operation are going on full swing. The authorities are trying to clear the tracks so that train service is resumed on this route. The Railway Ministry has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the dead, Rs 1 lakh for critically injured and Rs 10,000 for injured.
